那些年,我们一起追的女孩

it's been a long while since my last movie. having said that, this movie i just watched was also a very random one. i haven't heard of this movie at all and only went to watch it because my cousin asked to. i'm not one for surprises, especially not when weekend tickets are $10. but, i absolutely enjoyed this movie. haven't seen such a endearing romance film in quite a while.

青春是一场大雨。即使感冒了,还盼望回头再淋它一次。

this story is based on Giddens Ko(九把刀) own experience with a girl he used to like alot. he wrote it into a novel which subsequently made it to he big screen. i won't bore you with the synopsis since you can easily google or wiki that up. i'll just say that it's nice to know in reality, not all love stories have a fairytale ending. i'm sure we all have that special guy or girl in our hearts whom we will never forget.

the english title is "you are the apple of my eye" and i really recommend everyone to go watch it. yes, it's just another love story but it's also not just about falling in love. somehow this movie really brings me back to my jc days, when eyecandies and silly infatuations first grew on me. it is true that the best part of a relationship is during the courtship period, but if it never becomes a relationship you won't actually think that way. back then when i had my little crushes, i always thought how happy i'd be if the guy also told me he liked me. all these puppy love that never made it to a proper relationship will always just be sweet memories to me.

i guess i'm lucky enough because there was finally a guy i liked who told me he liked me too and that was probably the main reason why i said yes when he asked me to be his girlfriend. suddenly the long list of what my future ideal boyfriend is going to be was thrown out of the door.. the stuff about, 'he must be older than me', 'he must be tall', blah blah blah.. that all didn't seem to exist at that moment. in the movie, the girl was so ready to say yes but the guy didn't ask. in the end they never got together and eventually she married someone else. so guys, next time you like a girl, just ask her. unless you are content to just to be part of her memory instead.

and because i really like this movie, i came home and googled about it. can you believe this guy (柯震东) is only 20 and the actress (陈妍希) is 28?! i'm really impressed man. and he even won the best newcomer award at this year's golden horse awards! definitely a movie to add to my dvd collection. (:

and coincidentally, i actually heard the main theme song for this movie without realising. last thursday night, doh and keane organized overnight mj. keane left this song playing on repeat so that his computer won't sleep. haha! so yea, i listened to this song the entire night and it did slowly grow on me. when the movie ended and the starting melody came on, i was like, "omg, it can't be!". everything just sort of came together nicely.. haha. the lyrics is actually very sweet. if i were 沈佳宜, i would be really touched.

(study) BREAK!

it's the one-week holiday and i'm suppose to be studying. i've got 3 mid-sem papers coming up next week. urgh.. just that thought alone will kill all the joy i get from sleeping in. but still.. i made sure i enjoyed my break.. while i could. mahjong(which has become one of my favourite pastimes), watching shows and shopping! haha.

wednesday was probably the best day of the week because i was all ready to shop me heart out. arranged to meet pow at habour town in the morning but he overslept. saw some shoes that i 'kiv-ed' for later but didn't have to chance to go back because i was starving by the time he came. went to northbridge for tim sum.. which didn't exactly went very well. our verdict: ultimate 'car bang'. their mango pudding didn't even have any mango la.. so golden century wins hands down. *still, thanks for the treat.* took the train to cannington.. (sounds familar?) yea.. we're going to carousel. yippee! surprisingly, i didn't spend much there. only things i bought were mrs doubtfire dvd, a pair of kids trackpants from k-mart and shampoo that was on offer at coles. there were things that i wanted to buy.. but pow said to kiv them. but again, i never got back to them because the plan was to go home and watch mrs doubtfire. had a real bad headache on the way back.. probably due to the lack of sleep, erm.. or maybe because i woke up too early. mrs doubtfire didn't materialise due to some technical difficulties.. so we watched mall cop instead. it's the only recent new release that i've seen in a while. give me till next week.. then i'll tell you what i think about x men origin:wolverine. heh!

today was a girl's day out with yuk and ei jean. drove to garden city. (:  i finally saw a pair of boots that i like which actually looks nice on me.. pity it wasn't on offer. even more surprisingly, i totally didn't buy anything today! but that's mostly because it didn't fit or it was just too expensive. garden city was humungous! more 'atas' stuff than carousel. but i can't decide which i like better. haha.

oh well.. it's back to hitting the books now. you might not hear from me till next friday.

happy 牛 year

the supposed "girls' night out" became very random. laksa for dinner at holland followed by drinks at harry's. oh.. and someone was real hot!(please don't kill me moxi)

the night did end with us girls catching inkheart.

除夕 was like past years.. dinner at ahma's. then sending daddy and mummy to the airport. they're heading for turkey this round.

met sheng quan, daniel and donny for late night show.. doubt! merryl streep is awesome as usual. it was quite a dark show though.. even the humour was dark. went to bencoolen for prata before i got a lift home from sq. we hanged out until about 8 plus in the morning.. so yea, raisa and i kind of oveslept for visitation. haha!

"the curious case of benjamin button", "he's just not that into you" and "valkyrie" will only be showing when i've left for aussie.. sigh! oh well.. here's a little something else. i thought this video is just brilliant.

9 days to australia.

i hate reports.

just finish watching the last episode of 小娘惹.. haha. yes, i know.. i'm very slow. been busy with school and work. exam is on this coming thursday.. sigh, and my final assignment due on friday. in the midst of applying my visa and arranging for medical checkup. nothing is really helping at this point. everyone is saying how bad the ending to 小娘惹 was. but after the show ended, i honestly thought it was quite good. so what if the two main leads didn't get together? it was still quite a happily ever after finale. if they did end up together.. then it'll be too typical. considering that this is the best drama produced by mediacorp since 双天至尊, i'm actually quite glad the ending turned out the way it did.

well, malacca didn't happen.. again! but we did catch red cliff 2 together. fantastic stuff! the battle scenes are my favourite.. although once again the blood looked kind of fake. the subtle humour within the lines were good.

张震 as 孙权.

he's my favourite actor in the film. first saw him 天堂口 (blood brothers).. together with 刘烨. judging by their subsequent works, both are very talented actors in my opinion. 张震 is quite like a johnny depp.. just the chinese version. haha! i had a crush on depp since i first saw him in edward scissorhand.

happy 18th dearest!

23 days to australia. (quite a random post.. i'm sorry. will update more after my paper.)

countdown '09

mich, hadh and i ended up at a countdown service organized by FCBC. wasn't really what i expected when we decided to do countdown together this year but.. haha.

the inflatable sticks were fun.. haa! it's quite something, to be praising and worshipping as we enter the new year. got the chance to do a little thanksgiving for all the great memories of 2008 and to prepare myself for 2009, knowing that God will do it all over again for me. thanks to all the dear ones in my life.. you know who you are.

headed for east coast after the countdown to eat. while looking for a parking lot.. we saw some joker drove onto the grass patch and i think he was trying to get back into the carpark. he was trying to drive back onto the road through an empty lot but a truck totally ignored and did reverse parking. HAHA!

mark and mavis.. mich's friends.

i've been itching to watch movie today.. mich and hadh gladly obliged to my spontaneous idea. we 'rushed' down to cine but were a little too late to catch seven pounds at 2.45am. the next best one was some chinese show starring eason chen at 3.30am but there were only separate seats left(to hadh's delight). so we bought tickets for seven pounds at 3.50am. thank you michie for being so sporting! decided to go for a second round of breakfast to kill some time..

condensed milk&butter and french toast.

seven pounds was good. not the best choice if you're feeling sleepy though because of its cinematography. the story was interesting.. they didn't reveal it until the very end. and it's will smith.. so i'd say it's definitely worth the watch. haha. this is the first time i actually did a countdown and i quite enjoyed it. glad i'll be able to do it again next year too.. (:

random updates

some pictures during milk's christmas party...

people of milk.. past and present.

super late night movie with elger and sheng quan on saturday. i'm talking 1.50am. yea.. there was so much time on our hands we figured that the arcade is the best we've got (because sheng quan claims playing pool is very 'delinquent' behaviour. tsk!)

yes, that's elger looking like he's in his pjs.. because he is! at least it was appropriate for the show.. we were watching bedtime stories. haha.

quite another lazy sunday for me. but today's the kind i like.. not one of those that gives a dreadful feeling. did one of my favourite things.. watched dvd, erin brockovich to be specific. (: really funny.. i like. was also blog-browsing.. and i came across an entry that really touched me.
i secretly admit that it made me tear but i couldn't help it. that was one very powerful public confession. thank you.

oh, and one more thing.. happy birthday andy.

and so it was

this christmas was real quick. in fact, the whole year was. not awesomefied but still good.. probably because i'm too caught up in my preparations for australia. did gift exchange with my ya-yas, attended christmas service with daddy and mummy, greeting cards and presents from dajie and beverley in the mail, got kristine's call from down under, milk's christmas party... it's good enough.

the year is coming to a close and i looked back upon my 2008. other than it being the year of my 21st, dajie getting married and completing my first marathon.. everything else seems to be a blur. not that it bothers me, it's better in fact. now i know why they say some things are meant to happen. good or bad.. it depends on your own perspective i guess. in 2008, it seems like i'm stuck in reverse.. hmm, more like repeat actually, and that kind of sucks. but i'm not blaming anyone because i know it's my fault. i... i don't know how to get out of it. "just because it is, doesn't mean it should be" oh, i just watched AUSTRALIA today.. quite enjoyed it. it was a really long show.. long but nice show. it always seemed weird to watch movies alone.. but i think i want to learn to watch movies by myself.

no pictures for today's post.. because i realised i always bombard my entries with them.

too young to worry

cg christmas party on sunday.. with the theme, 70s old school. for some reason, i wasn't that dressed-up.. but that's not the point.

kiewu. i voted him best dressed.. and he won!

moxi's fondue pot. it kept me real happy during the whole party.

my favourite strut of the day.

then today, there was late lunch with andy who's flying off to china in a few hours time. i hope he remembers... please at least try. (:

i always wanted a huge dollhouse like that.

bought 'bridge to terabithia' dvd because it's finally on discount! the first time i watched it was with beverley.. we both cried buckets. watching it again was just as good.. it makes me want to be a kid again.

secret garden

rewatched 'jerry maguire'. i admire women like dorothy, because i'm not as willing to wait for men to finally decide on what they want. but i guess it's only in such situations, then "you had me at hello" would really truly be meaningful. good thing she got her fairytale ending in the show. it has a nice soundtrack too. reminds me of.. "That’s the worst , I think when a secret stays locked in within not for want of a teller but for want of an understanding ear.".. read more here. i miss my secret garden.. it's been a while since i looked into it. being in there gives me the nice and cosy feeling and i enjoyed it while it lasted. now the door is shut.. a little too tight i think.

"men are the enemy. BUT... but i still love the enemy."

she'll let you in her house
if you come knocking late at night
she'll let you in her mouth
if the words you say are right
if you pay the price
she'll let you deep inside
but there's a secret garden she hides

she'll let you in her car
to go drivin round
she'll let you into the parts of herself
that'll bring you down
she'll let you in her heart
if you got a hammer and a vise
but into her secret garden, don't think twice

you've gone a million miles
how far did you get
to that place where you can't remember
and you can't forget

she'll lead you down a path
there'll be tenderness in the air
she'll let you come just far enough
so you know she's really there
she'll look at you and smile
and her eyes will say
she's got a secret garden
where everything you want
where everything you need
will always stay
a million miles away

movie marathon

holiday seasons can be quite a bummer because of jammed up streets and shopping malls. one reason to be happy about all this is the good movies that will be screening. you can only have such a selection during holidays...

there's also red cliff 2! and AUSTRALIA. these are the ones i'm looking forward to for now.

body of lies wasn't exactly a blast. but madagascar 2 made up for it. i love king julien.. such a ball of enthusiasm("raise your arms, maurice. it's more fun if you raise your arms like this! ahaha") and so ever confident about himself("which of you is attracted to me?").. although he's slightly delusional("maurice, i think they like me!") and not very sensitive("oh shut up, you're so annoying."). he's a master with words("shame on you maurice! do you not see that you have insulted the freaks?!").. so that impresses me. i want him as my pet, then he can make me laugh everyday("hohoho.. oh i like laughing, it's such a nice experience.. to laugh. hahaha.") just by talking to himself. ("mmm, very nice. thank you for your sacrifice." "please, have another sacrifice." "no, i've had enough for the day." "please now, i'm going to be very insulted unless you have another" "I DON'T WANT ANOTHER SACRIFICE OK?!" "look at you, you look skinnny") hee.. i love watching king julien.
this one is worth watching too. i don't think it's showing in singapore.. caught this one online. awesome! i like 'true story' films. the story has got to be somewhat fantastic for people to want to make a movie out of it.

movie date anyone?

'tis the season to be jolly

i can't wait for christmas! one of the reason is because of this...

two of the most beautiful people i love to watch on big screen.. and they're looking as good as ever.

milk media's christmas party is in the midst of brain-storming. quite excited about it.. it's going to be super awesome if the plan follows through. oh, we're going to do christmas cards too.. and the mock up is looking really good. (:

(((:

elger jio-ed the milk people for movie together.. we decided on 'lakeview terrace' because daniel already watched madagascar 2. in the end, daniel PANG SEH!!! i thought the movie was not bad. samuel l. jackson's performance is wicked.. he's probably the only black actor who can pull off such an attitude. we dinnered/suppered at HK cafe then headed home. i was checking my email as per normal, thinking i'll just clear all the notifications from fb and friendster.. BUT to my extremely pleasant surprise...

"Dear Kristy,

At our Crawley campus we have a program called the Bachelor of Science (Exercise & Health), which includes a major sequence in sport & exercise science. This is equivalent to the program at PSB Academy, but with a greater choice of units.

We can certainly approve your transfer to the Crawley campus. You will need 90 points to finish the BSc course, i.e. two years, but with only seven level 2 units instead of eight, as you will have completed PSYC2203. In 2009 you will take four or five units of human movement, and will choose your other units from psychology or human biology or both. In 2010 you will take the third year of the course.

Apologies for the delay in this reply. I have sent on your transfer form for processing."

ahhhhh!!! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THIS MEANS....?! i'm so happy i don't think i can sleep tonight.

thank You

pastor promised that this week's message will be 'triple-ly' awesome.. and it was. it reminded me of how God has indeed been so tremendously good to me. for the few that know, going to australia has been on my mind since i started my course. i've always thought about it, visualized it, believed it and confessed it (thanks to those who believed and confessed together with me).. not to mention praying and sowing. there were so many times when i wanted to give it up.. but thank God for faith, patience and friends who shared my dream. i'm now in the midst of preparation. if all goes well, i'll be flying off to aussie during the first week of February. *WOOT!*

i apologise for not being able to contain my excitement.. anyway, xenia called for a 'dress day', so my new dress(from our trip to city plaza) was the obvious choice.

n20 girls

rickson's 21st.

happy birthday to my dear also. it's finally the big 'TWO' zero.. yay!

cg had plans to hang out at timbre on saturday but the waiting time was insane due to the size of our crowd. so we proceeded to the cathay instead. no choice la.. hungry people are angry people. we did head back after dinner though. moxi and i intented to sleepover at xenia's.. part of the plan was to go timbre, so it was pretty inevitable that we went back. goodfellas were playing that night and i think they're qutie good. nice choice of songs.. oh, and the lead singer has one heck of a voice la. the drummer was entertaining too.. hee.

this is only a cover.. the erdinger was mine. ricky ordered ice lemon tea.

moxi & xenia (:

i know, so pretty right..

in the end, the sleepover wasn't really a sleepover. it was more like a movie marathon.. plus almost the whole cg(those who stayed till late) came over also. we reached xenia's place at around 3plus and i only managed to catch some shuteye at 6am. by the time i woke up, there was only me, rickson, jinlong and kelvin left. xenia made pancakes.. yay! then we slacked and watched some cheesy taiwan drama because of the rain. we did finally go out..

my craving for apple strudel on a restless sunday.. and i got it.

everything was well until i came back to office on monday. so much work for me.. especially today. arghh.. "i quit!!". not literally la.. i love my job, my bosses are cool.

i've been hunting for batgirl the past week but she's extinct already. ): went to try my luck at vivo's topshop on wednesday but to my MAJOR disappointment, they don't have her too. )): then my only other 'want' wasn't available in size 6. ))): well, mamma mia cheered me up slightly. (:

(i'm addicted to the soundtrack now)

it's still a good week so far. i find myself mostly in a pensive mood.. which is rather comforting to know. just glad that all the drama is over. thanks!
