back to perth-day 3

day 3 is our 'mini roadrip' day and today we are off to busselton/dunsborough. first had breakfast at manhattan, a small cafe beside my old place.

pow ordered the breakfast special.. because it was cheap.

i went ahead with my favourite.. eggs benedict! (:

after that, it's time to head off. and guess what? it started drizzling! that isn't really important btw. haha.

didn't take much picture along the way because pow isn't good at taking them. oh, but we figured out how to use the cruise control! haha.. pow read the manual and instructed me accordingly. this made the 2+ hour drive a little easier, although it was actually more difficult at first. i wasn't used to my legs doing nothing, so i was more conscious of every little thing. but after a while, it was actually quite nice.

see see! (:

and here we are!!!

thanks suling, who helped me call and made a booking.

and off the train goes...

seats along the jetty.. in case people got tired.
it is 1.8km long.

end of the jetty.. at the underwater observatory (UWO).

i won't bore you too much with the million photos i took in there.. but here's just an idea of what the observatory is all about.

the tour was for about 15-20 minutes, then the remaining 30 was for you to walk around on your own. it was really nice seeing the fishes and other marine life all around you. there were windows along the spiral staircase down, it's not like the whole structure is see-through. but it's still really nice, going 8m down to the bottom of the sea floor.

saw this sight from the souvenir shop and i just thought it's super cute.

pow wanted to pose with the stingray.
maybe because it looked like the one we saw during our roadtrip up north?

driver at work, bring the train head to the 'front'.
you don't expect him to reverse all the way back right?!

enjoying the ride back.

that's all for our visit to busselton jetty. next is to find DINNER!

we saw this recommendation on one of the brochures and decided to try it.
we tried 3 of the 5 best fish & chips in WA, this will be our 4th!

very simple dinner but i really liked it.
the fish especially.. super fresh! (:

so that's the end of day 3. i was so tired that night because of all the driving. we went to sleep really early because there's whale-watching the next day(plus the drive back to perth)!

margaret river day 2

second morning at MR. first things first... pump petrol!

need to clean away the 'road kills'.

first stop today... cape leeuwin lighthouse. it's near Augusta which is even further down south than MR.. about a 2 hour drive?

commemorative coin.

tourist pose #1.

tourist pose #2.

our tour was for the 11.40am one.. so we waited outside.

time to climb 8 storeys...

we took 2 breaks while climbing to the top. the stairway was quite tight and it's really not as easy as it looks. when we're finally up there...
mechanism that controls the light.

gigantic lens.

the view was lovely once you step outside...
the part where you see waves crashing together in the middle of the ocean is
apparently where the indian ocean and southern ocean meets.

trying for a shot with 2 oceans.

a very well-taken group shot by me. (:

going down wasn't tiring.. but it was scary la. no breaks this time.
eijean and i held up the line quite abit because we were so slow. haha!

time for breakfasssst!

scones and tea.

as we were heading off, we passed a spot which overlooked the sea quite prettily. so we stopped for a picture. the boys were inspired to try this...

on our way to visit mammoth's cave now. there were nice trees along the way.. and i mean really nice looking trees. so we stopped again for a photo.

after a long ride later.. we've reached mammoth's cave!
our tourguide.

doh and jean.

ok.. let's start.

jerry's smart idea to flash for pow to take this shot. (:

i took like a million pictures in the cave because i loved it so much. suddenly i can recall everything my geography teacher taught about erosion and weathering. the stalagmites and stalactites... so cool! the cave was enormous by the way and super chilly.

and out we come...

we decided to take a longer route to the exit by taking some trail walk..

after about 15 minutes and some regret.. we made it to the main entrance. back to the city now...

stopped by simmo's for ice cream.

the boys' favourite...

breweries aren't like wineries. they don't have free tasting.. so the guys bought a sample tray of all their beers.
i thought it looked cute.
obviously i didn't drink any and neither did jean.

saw this funny sign in the window of some shop.

dinner for the night.

our super delicious pumpkin soup!

our chalet has jacuzzi.. so since we came back early and it was our last night, we all decided to have a go just to relax ourselves. HAHA! the bath was filled 5 times ok!

accomplishment of the boys in just 2 nights.

tomorrow's itinerary is quite simple.. estimate to reach perth city in the evening for dinner. why time fly so fast when you're having fun?!
