那些年,我们一起追的女孩

it's been a long while since my last movie. having said that, this movie i just watched was also a very random one. i haven't heard of this movie at all and only went to watch it because my cousin asked to. i'm not one for surprises, especially not when weekend tickets are $10. but, i absolutely enjoyed this movie. haven't seen such a endearing romance film in quite a while.

青春是一场大雨。即使感冒了,还盼望回头再淋它一次。

this story is based on Giddens Ko(九把刀) own experience with a girl he used to like alot. he wrote it into a novel which subsequently made it to he big screen. i won't bore you with the synopsis since you can easily google or wiki that up. i'll just say that it's nice to know in reality, not all love stories have a fairytale ending. i'm sure we all have that special guy or girl in our hearts whom we will never forget.

the english title is "you are the apple of my eye" and i really recommend everyone to go watch it. yes, it's just another love story but it's also not just about falling in love. somehow this movie really brings me back to my jc days, when eyecandies and silly infatuations first grew on me. it is true that the best part of a relationship is during the courtship period, but if it never becomes a relationship you won't actually think that way. back then when i had my little crushes, i always thought how happy i'd be if the guy also told me he liked me. all these puppy love that never made it to a proper relationship will always just be sweet memories to me.

i guess i'm lucky enough because there was finally a guy i liked who told me he liked me too and that was probably the main reason why i said yes when he asked me to be his girlfriend. suddenly the long list of what my future ideal boyfriend is going to be was thrown out of the door.. the stuff about, 'he must be older than me', 'he must be tall', blah blah blah.. that all didn't seem to exist at that moment. in the movie, the girl was so ready to say yes but the guy didn't ask. in the end they never got together and eventually she married someone else. so guys, next time you like a girl, just ask her. unless you are content to just to be part of her memory instead.

and because i really like this movie, i came home and googled about it. can you believe this guy (柯震东) is only 20 and the actress (陈妍希) is 28?! i'm really impressed man. and he even won the best newcomer award at this year's golden horse awards! definitely a movie to add to my dvd collection. (:

and coincidentally, i actually heard the main theme song for this movie without realising. last thursday night, doh and keane organized overnight mj. keane left this song playing on repeat so that his computer won't sleep. haha! so yea, i listened to this song the entire night and it did slowly grow on me. when the movie ended and the starting melody came on, i was like, "omg, it can't be!". everything just sort of came together nicely.. haha. the lyrics is actually very sweet. if i were 沈佳宜, i would be really touched.

i miss you too mamu

raisa facebook-ed me that mummy misses me. it was then that i realise mum did not see my text. so i called her last night and here's how the conversation went. my dear mother screamed "how come you so late then call?". she's been expecting to hear from me but cleverly did not bother to switch her handphone on. so i told her.. "but i got sms you, got on your handphone anot?". then she laughed... and told me "oh! no la.. i never on. why you don't sms daddy's phone?" in my mind i was thinking.. since the text was meant for her, i thought it would be nicer if she received a beep on her phone and proceed to open and read it, much better than having my dad pass her the phone going, "eh, kristy sms you happy mother's day." right?!

oh well, i should have known better.. haha! was kind of hoping she would have learnt by now to turn on her phone on days like these.

dinner at tao's

raisa and chun chong suggested dinner at tao's restaurant for daddy's belated birthday celebration on monday night. always saw the ad on tv but haven't actually tried it. they both gave very good reviews about the place and their extremely hospitable service. one of their staff, frankie, was really attentive. maybe because he recognise raisa and chun chong thus he was so kind as to give us 5 COMPLIMENTARY DISHES OUT OF THE 7!! i was really touched. the 7-course meal was quite alot, according to raisa. so out plan was to just order 4 sets to share among the 5 of us. in the end, we had 5 sets of everything except the beverage and main entree. i'll definitely be back here again.. not for any complimentary dish but because i'm very pleased with the food. for someone like me who eats alot.. 7-course meal is good. hahaha! we all got to choose what we wanted so we ordered mostly different stuffs to try. this might make your mouth water.. are you ready?

starter:
bacon and mushroom gratin.
and some orange ice-blend thingy. haha.. it's nice and refreshing la

i must say, the gratin is fantastic. it's kind of like a spread for the bread.. and they go really well together. i can even just eat the gratin on its own la!

salads:
my smoked salmon salad. (raisa and daddy ordered this too.)
it's really good.. salmon with veges. nice combi.

prawn roll with pork floss (chun chong)

fruit salad (mummy)
it's topped with mango sauce and something.. can't remember.

appetizer:
i don't remember what this is called.. but i love love love it!
because i'm a big fan of mushrooms.. all types of mushrooms!

beverages:

my iced tropical grapefruit tea.

i love the cup la.. so cute.

iced grape mellow tea (raisa)

iced rose apple tea (daddy)
i really like this one.. although mummy complains it's too sweet.
but apple and rose, such a nice combi.. if you know how to appreciate la.

soups:
my cream of pumpkin.

double-boiled shark's fin melon soup (daddy)

fish consumme (mummy & raisa)

all the soups were nice. can't really choose a favourite because the flavours are very different. but you do get what they say you'll get. the pumpkin soup was nice and creamy, the double-boiled was really clear and the fish consumme.. just taste awesome.

main entrees:
my baked atlantic flounder with CHEESE. (:
lovely dish.. fish is fresh and cheese is delicious!

spicy stingray (daddy)
really quite spicy.. but i think pow will like. haha!

tao's grilled jumbo chicken leg (mummy)

tao's oven roasted steak (chun chong)
one of the rare places where i think the steak served is good.
not chewy at all.. literally will melt in your mouth. i'll probably get this next time.

dessert:
my tiramisu.

cheesecake (mummy)
i know it looks pathetically small.. but after eating so much, that slice is just perfect.

brownie with ice cream (chun chong)

creme brulee (raisa)

i thought my tiramisu wasn't that bad. it's just the way i like it.. not too much alcohol taste. the creme brulee too.. or maybe it's just because i like to crack into it. haha.

then, frankie came with our 'cake' and we surprised daddy. come, everybody sing song! (:
frankie prepared yam ice cream.. with poached pear. complimentary too!

I LOVE MY DADDY!!

世上只有妈妈好

to my dearest mamu:

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! this is probably the only one day every year that i'll be on my best behaviour. washing all the dishes in the sink, (try to) pack my room so it looks a tad neater, buying you flowers, treating you to a nice dinner.. basically be at your beck and call. whilst i do it consciously to make you feel like a queen on this special day, you've unconsciously been doing the same for me all other 364 days of the year and for that, there just isn't enough thank-yous in the world to express my gratitude.

yea.. there's definitely the share of complaints, whines and flares of temper from you now and then (honestly, who wouldn't? when there's 3 spoilt princesses in the house), but you're still always so willing to do whatever you can to give us the best. all these years, you've sacrificed so much into my life and i know there's really no point in telling you to stop worrying because i guess that's what all mothers do. still, don't worry about me here. you've taught me the importance of self-love, hard work and sensitivity, which i will always keep in mind. lastly, i really really love you mummy.. and i miss you so much! thank you for being the best mummy around. *muacks*

1st of April

happy april fool's day everyone. what a day to wake up to.. mainly because there's no class today. PROSH is finally here.. eveyone's really hyped up about it. it's suppose to be a school event but i'm not involved. haha. still, they got my attention. was planning to go into the city to see what the fuss is all about and boy, if you had seen what i saw.. i'm sure you'll understand too. but.. I FORGOT TO BRING MY CAMERA OUT! arghh.. of all days, i had to forget today! sorry people, no photos.. of the floats that paraded the city or the 10 policemen on horseback or the massive jams along the streets or the tons of students in costumes. if you're confused.. go wikipedia it. it's really quite something. maybe next year i'll take part.

on another note.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY 姐夫! you're awesome for making my sister such a happy woman. (:

oh, last random update.. hongwei bought a tv.

32 inch LCD.. how about that?! *wee-a-weet*

i'm feeling a little upset now.. because my baby sister is turning 21 today and i'm not there to celebrate this big day for her. but i'm still very happy because birthdays are suppose to be happy. my little sister ain't so little anymore(technically, she isn't very 'little' since she is way taller than me), i just act fierce and be the domineering bad sister. haha. now, i just need to get her a present. oh well...

HAPPY 21st SKINNY ONE!
