thought i should do a little review on jay's album.
yes, i've finally went to collect it. suyan accompanied me to lot 1 after training last monday. i know it's kind of late but nevermind.. it's my blog.. so just bear with it, if not close the window and spend your time doing something more worthwhile.
10 songs..
1. 夜曲
2. 藍色風暴
3. 髮如雪
4. 黑色毛衣
5. 四面楚歌
6. 楓
7. 浪漫手機
8. 逆鱗
9. 麥芽糖
10. 珊瑚海
with 2 bonus tracks.
11. 飄移
12. 一路向北
personally, i think this album is average. well, it's good but not brilliant. i feel he can definitely do better. however, there are a few songs that i am extremely in love with.
one is, of course, 一路向北. i put up the lyrics on one of my previous entries. this is a rather sad song.. go read the lyrics. if you don't understand.. erm.. try to find the translation.. but it usually deviates alot from the original meaning. so i guess.. don't bother lah. the melody is super nice.. suits the mood of this song. it's my next favourite ballad by jay after 軌跡.
髮如雪.. this one has quite a "history". before i collected the cd.. check and yini mentioned it to me(only back then i didn't know it was this song). layyan, a friend of theirs(also a big fan of jay), taught them.. 'something from his new album'. haha.. you should see yini do it.. hilarious like mad! it's got hand action.. and you're suppose to say 'ni fa ru xue' super fast.. as though it's a rap. i heard it into 'yi fa ru xuan'.. LOL. so i had the idea that it was a fast song from the album.. but it turned out otherwise. it's a very soothing song.. especially like the chorus. when i first heard it.. it did sort of remind me of 王力宏's 心中的日月. pretty similar in certain ways but it's still different. this one's a classic.. that's all i can say.
黑色毛衣. one of the two songs in this album that jay wrote himself, lyrics and music. the introduction for this song caught my attention immediately.. clever plucking of the guitar. the tune was very unique.. sounded quite cheena and a little classical. the lyrics are simple.. quite a short song, but together with the melody.. it turned out better than it seemed it would.
mostly slow numbers in this album.. only five tracks are more upbeat. i think that's enough of ballads.. don't you think?
四面楚歌 is a really cool song. it's about the paparazzi. this is the other song written solely by jay himself. =)) the chorus is very catchy.. because the main lines of the chorus is just "lalala..". haha.. i feel like i'm making it sound as though it's some kind of nusery rhyme. but it's NOT ok.. go listen to the song and you'll know what i mean. there's even a short korean rap in it.. hurhur.
oh.. how can i forget to talk about 珊瑚海!! shoot me. anyway, it's a duet by jay and lara. i hadn't the slightest clue who on earth she was.. then i found out she's a member of 南拳媽媽. her voice is really sweet.. and in the nice way, unlike the act-cute wannabe.. what's her name.. oh yes, wang xin lin.. or something like that. she's dreadful.. her music is really trash. call that music?! i'm sorry.. it's not that i'm against her or anything.. but i just don't like the idea of calling yourself a singer or artiste just because of superb marketing skills. you'll need talent to impress me. anyway, back to the song.. it's a lovely track. nothing special really but i just seem to like it alot. first heard this song on someone's blog(suling will be able to guess who).. haha, ok.. this is actually irrelevant.
i could go on with the other songs.. but i'm getting tired now. haha.. thanks for enduring this nonsensical stuff. =)
oh and one more thing.. please support original! don't buy the pirated version.
