aussie updates

finally.. my internet connection is up! it seriously cannot take any longer than it did. i was damn pissed few days back because of the inefficiency of telstra's service but that's all over now.

as promised, a proper update of what's happening since i left for australia. *be warned: this is going to be a looooong entry*

thanks to everyone who came (and even those who couldn't).

daren.
he's my hero because i think i wouldn't make it to aussie so smoothly without his help.

australia, here i come!

at perth airport.. waiting for yukiko.

first meal in perth. taka.. some japanese resturant. then i was introduced to this..

cool right?! it beeps when your food is ready.

emma's. some oriental store at northbridge.. where i discovered 奶茶!
never thought i'd find it here.

CAT services - free rides that bring you around the city.
there's 3 buses.. blue, red and yellow cat!

pardon the massive amounts of photos taken.. it was day 1 in perth la, so i get to act like a tourist.

post office.

wellington train station.

roc-candy.

mind you, that's 7.45pm!

day 2: plans to burswood didn't happen.. so yukiko suggested driving to the beach. the winds were freezing but it's beautiful. with the stars and all.

yuk wanted to try a picture of her chasing the seagulls but they just wouldn't budge.

day 3: crabbing! headed to mandurah at about 11pm. the ride there was quite long but it builds on the anticipation. my first ever crabbing outing.. haha! pro right.. never tried fishing or prawning, and i'm already attempting crabbing. the 'in-action' pictures are with daren.. here's our catch for the day.

yukiko.
the extremely hospitable, kind soul that took me in after seeing the state of my unfurnished apartment.

day 4: trip to fremantle

protest against the tamil tigers.. on our way to take the train.

pow.
the awesome 2-week friend who took great care of me.. thanks 亲爱的.

winds are insanely chilly.. but i think i can seriously get use to it. (:

(S.O.Y = shit on you)

i know there's cold rock back in singapore.. but look at the serving here! (:

fremantle's fish and chips!

day 5: yuk tried a new recipe for dinner..

CURRY PUMPKIN SOUP and fried rice.

day 6: 汤圆 on the 15th day of CNY.

day 8: orientation. honestly.. i thought the orientation was a huge flop. i got to know a few names.. but i didn't make any friends. i guess i'll be attending class on my own for the first week of semester. oh, ducks and peacocks roam freely on my campus grounds.. how cool is that?! ok, not very. but it's nice to see a white peacock around other than in jurong birdpark.

i was pretty fascinated by the seats in the lecture theatre.

australian bubble tea. it's $4 per cup.
(i know.. you must be thinking: "wth?!")

day 9: new deep fryer! pow and i prepared dinner. i'm quite proud of myself! (:

fish and 'rings' for dinner.

nudie drinks!

day 11: happy valentine's day, another crabbing day

chu xuan, ei jean, wai lun

day 13:Align Center
london court. sorry, i'm a sucker for anything british.

evening view from my room.

assembling my study table. sorry about the state of my room.. i'm ashamed. actually not really. i'm having quite abit of fun furnishing it.. as long as i don't think of how much i'm spending.

day 14:
the initial plan was to spend the day with hongwei, joey(his sister) and lydia(her friend). joey prepared breakfast.. which i really appreciate! (:

then swan valley was next on the itinerary but i gave that a miss and went to habour town with pow and gang. yuk's saying she'll drive eijean and i down again next week.. for our shopping spree. i'll just be watching them though.. i promise.

back from habour town.

met hongwei and the rest before going to burswood. we were super early and joey didn't want to waste any time.. so we drove to king's park since the movie started at 8.30pm. and we all didn't regret it.

joey and hongwei.

i love the grass in perth.

this reminds me of 'when you say nothing at all' mtv.

this whole row of trees were planted in 1929...

there's like a million ravens in perth! ok, i'm exaggerating slightly because i really don't like them. especially when they kaw non-stop in the middle of the night.

rushed back for outdoor movie screening at burswood.. the tale of despereaux.

yea.. we rented bean bags.

it had to be a cold night when i didn't bring my jacket out. i was literally freezing my ass off.. but i really enjoyed the show. the whole experience rather.

oh, just a heads up for mummy if she's reading. i went shopping... (:

well, so much for my first 2 weeks in australia. i'd say it's pretty awesomefied.
